The Radiology Department provides a range of diagnostic imaging examination such as general radiography, fluoroscopic examinations, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and the Multi Slice Computer Tomography (MSCT).
128 Multi Slice CT Scan (MSCT)
The MSCT scan can be carried out with adaptability in speed, resolution and power whilst using the lowest possible dose. Radiation dose is reduced by up to 80% per scan. It is capable of fine detailed anatomical visualisation of bones, soft tissue and vascular structures for functionality and tissue differentiation to enable characterisation of disease providing crisp, clear images with no motion artifacts.
A whole body scan from head to toe immediately reveals fractures, bleeding and other polytraumatic injuries within 10 seconds. Uncooperative and unconscious patients with short breath holds can be quickly scanned. This feature also minimises the pain and discomfort of conventional examinations in traumatic injury examinations.
Cardiac and cardiovascular imaging can be done enabling sharp images of even the smallest coronary vessels providing the confidence to perform accurate stenosis measurements or stent planning with outstanding precision.
Cerebral Vascular imaging - It also provides excellent visualisation of intracranial vessels and cerebral lesions.
CT Colonoscopic procedures can now be done without the discomfort of the conventional colonoscopy procedure.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) using magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves are capable of high speed imaging of the blood vessels, spine and the whole body. Within 20 - 30 minutes, images can be retrieved to differentiate between healthy and diseased tissues of the body in order to assist with disease diagnosis.
The Adaptive MSCT Scanner, SOMATOM Definition AS+ (128-slice) was installed in 2009.
