Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapy is the use of purposeful activity for individuals who are limited by physical injury or illness, or ageing process in order to maximize independence, prevent disability and maintain optimum health.

The practice encompasses evaluation, treatment and consultation.

Physiotherapy services include:

  • Teaching daily living skills
  • Developing perceptual motor skills and sensory integrative functioning
  • Developing play skills and prevocational and leisure capacities
  • Designing, fabricating or applying selected orthotic and prosthetic devices or selective adaptive equipment using specifically designed crafts and exercises to enhance functional performance
  • Administering and interpreting tests such as manual muscle and range of movement
  • Adapting the environment for the handicapped

Among the many therapies available is hydrotherapy in our heated therapy pool, which is the only one in a private hospital in Perak. The warm water assists to relief pain and muscle spasms whilst the buoyancy of the water makes exercising weightless. This is especially beneficial as it allows freedom of movements which are difficult to achieve without water.

Fango heat treatments, is used for the relief of muscular aches and pain. The affected part is wrapped with soft moulded volcanic ash which has been warmed to 45°C, the properties of which aids in the relief of pain.

The Physiotherapy services also coordinates the Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation programme, which is run in 2 phases.

Phase 1 consists of inpatient counselling by a nurse, phamacist, dietitian and physiotherapist.

Phase 2 consists of outpatient counselling by individual counsellors and patient is charged accordingly.

Physiotherapy services are available for Inpatients and Outpatients. Doctors’ referrals are required for outpatients.
