The history of Hospital Fatimah dates back to 1952 when the Brothers of Mercy, landed in Peninsular Malaya after being expelled from China by the communists. In the early years, the Brothers of Mercy worked under the auspices of The Catholic Welfare Services in providing basic medical services to the local populace in the new villages in the Kinta District and Province Wellesley. They were well received by the people there and soon , they were known as "The German Doctors".

Encouraged by the favourable reception by the people and an increased demand for their services, the Brothers Of Mercy began to work on their vision. This vision was to consolidate their ideals in Malaysia by building and running a hospital within the framework of Christian love and charity.
